IV Iraquara American Socio-Environmental Film and Video Festival
Environmental and social degradation begins to worry humanity as a whole. This happens because the search for a quick and easy profit generates such degradation, affecting the community in general, forcing each of us to adopt attitude changes, so that, we can guarantee our own survival on the Planet.
The problems arising from the negative action of man on nature have been the object of the gaze not only of the Government, but also of organized civil society, in addition to having become a source of inspiration for artists who aim to register and denounce the deterioration of the human being and nature. Therefore, cinema and video are the appropriate vehicles to document and report the serious aggressions to the ecosystem. In this way, providing access to works produced with this thematic is a way of engaging people in this awareness movement for the preservation of the planet and the human race.
Iraquara, located in Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, has a priceless natural heritage: it is home to the largest speleological collection in South America. And that’s also why this small town contributes to this process of environmental awareness, holding the IV Festival Americano de Cinema e Vídeo Socioambiental de Iraquara – IV FASAI CINE VÍDEO. Aiming at supporting and expanding the defense network for the environment cause, there will be exhibited and awarded films and videos works – feature, medium and short films – with socio-environmental thematic at the IV FASAI.
The festival proposal will also include holding lectures and debates on water, this precious finite good that nature gives us; to debate the deforestation that has silted up our rivers and degraded previously fertile lands; discuss one of the serious problems of our time, which are the tons of solid waste that we produce daily and discard them without any criteria in the soil. We want to transform these debates that will be held during the IV FASAI CINE VÍDEO into concrete actions in the city itself, modifying the daily life of the local population and stimulating the practice of citizenship in each individual. The municipality will be able to show the world how the public government can and should interfere in the process of raising awareness and changing the attitude of its population.
IV FASAI CINE VIDEO invites you, filmmakers who make their art a tool in the fight for a better world; you, environmentalists who record your struggles with audiovisual technologies to denounce and combat the crimes that we live with in our day-to-day.
